One of the joys of living in the shadow of southeast Arizona's Chiricahua Mountains, just a few miles from the border with New Mexico, is the ever-changing view. This is looking to the west from my back yard in the small community of Portal. Cave Creek Canyon, called "The Yosemite of Arizona", is on the right, and the peak is a sentinel to entering the canyon. I took this on a morning when a dry cold front was moving through. I took this with the Canon 7D MK I and Canon 17-55 f/2.8 lens with a circular polarizer. The camera exif is ISO 400, f/6.7 @ 1/125 sec with a focal length of 17mm.
The "great outdoors" has always been an important part of my life, even though I was born, raised and have a mailing address in Los Angeles' busy port town of San Pedro. I've hiked the country lanes and paths of Great Britain, bike toured thorough Europe for 6 months, backpacked in the Sierra Nevada, and "truck camped" around the western US for weeks at a time, taking in the scenery and places of solitude. I worked at a Kaiser hospital for 34 years, then retired in 2013 at age 56 and hit the road, living in my travel trailer; I’ve been on the road now since June 2013 and plan to keep on living with no fixed address for at least another 2 years.
