Artist's Description

You can drive to some of Alaska's glaciers; you can stroll to Exit Glacier. It's in Kenai Fjords National Park just outside of the town of Seward and only a 20-minute walk from the parking area. The best, and most challenging, trail is the Harding Icefield Trail; it climbs 3,500 feet in 4.2 miles and is 8.4 miles round-trip. But it goes along Exit Glacier and ends up at the Harding Icefield, a massive, spectacular 300-square-mile ice sheet that is the source of 38 named glaciers, including Exit. It covers a mountain range under ice several thousand feet thick. This view was taken along the Icefield Trail, looking back down to the foot of the glacier and Resurrection River. Shot it RAW and handheld, I used the Canon 7D MK II and 17-55 f/2.8 lens and the camera exif is ISO 200, f/11 @ 1/125 second at a focal length of 20mm.

About Steve Wolfe

Steve Wolfe

The "great outdoors" has always been an important part of my life, even though I was born, raised and have a mailing address in Los Angeles' busy port town of San Pedro. I've hiked the country lanes and paths of Great Britain, bike toured thorough Europe for 6 months, backpacked in the Sierra Nevada, and "truck camped" around the western US for weeks at a time, taking in the scenery and places of solitude. I worked at a Kaiser hospital for 34 years, then retired in 2013 at age 56 and hit the road, living in my travel trailer; I’ve been on the road now since June 2013 and plan to keep on living with no fixed address for at least another 2 years. I spend most of the daylight hours hiking and photographing with either the Canon 40D DSLR and...
