I grew up in Mentasta, saw this view every day... I miss it

Artist's Description

Mentasta Lake lies along the Tok Cutoff about 60 miles southwest of Tok. I passed it twice, first in the middle of August, then about a month later; this is from the latter. On that day the water was smooth as glass and the clouds, Alaska Range and blue sky were perfectly reflected. I used the Canon 7D MK II and 17-55 f/2.8 IS lens, and the camera exif is ISO 200, f/5.6 @ 1/250 second with a focal length of 17mm.

The "great outdoors" has always been an important part of my life, even though I was born, raised and have a mailing address in Los Angeles' busy port town of San Pedro. I've hiked the country lanes and paths of Great Britain, bike toured thorough Europe for 6 months, backpacked in the Sierra Nevada, and "truck camped" around the western US for weeks at a time, taking in the scenery and places of solitude. I worked at a Kaiser hospital for 34 years, then retired in 2013 at age 56 and hit the road, living in my travel trailer; I’ve been on the road now since June 2013 and plan to keep on living with no fixed address for at least another 2 years.
