Taken on October 21, 2014, this shows autumnal at- and past-peak aspen lit in late-afternoon sun with along with lengthening shadows at Rush Creek, on the June Lake Loop in California's eastern Sierra Nevada. The mountain in the background is Carson Peak. The camera used was the Canon 40D DSLR and the lens the Canon EF-S 17-55 f/2.8 IS with a circular polarizer. Camera exif is 20mm, ISO 200, f/8.0 @ 1/100 sec.

The "great outdoors" has always been an important part of my life, even though I was born, raised and have a mailing address in Los Angeles' busy port town of San Pedro. I've hiked the country lanes and paths of Great Britain, bike toured thorough Europe for 6 months, backpacked in the Sierra Nevada, and "truck camped" around the western US for weeks at a time, taking in the scenery and places of solitude. I worked at a Kaiser hospital for 34 years, then retired in 2013 at age 56 and hit the road, living in my travel trailer; I’ve been on the road now since June 2013 and plan to keep on living with no fixed address for at least another 2 years.
