The Ruby Mountains, just south of Elko in northern Nevada, are one of the little-known treasures of the West. Unlike most of the 200-plus mountain ranges in Nevada, they resemble California's Sierra Nevada in that much of it was sculpted by glaciers, the work of which you can vividly see in Lamoille Canyon. The Ruby Crest Trail begins at road's end in Lamoille Canyon and climbs up to Liberty Pass where you get this view of spectacular Liberty Lake and the Ruby range running south. I used the Canon 7D MK I and EF-S 17-55mm f/2.8 USM IS lens, and the camera exif is ISO 200, f/9.5 @ 1/180 second with a focal length of 17mm. I shot in RAW format, handheld.
