In July 2016 I took my truck and trailer and drove north to Alaska. I spent a month in The Last Frontier, and one of the highlights was spending 2 weeks in Denali National Park. The scenery was stupendous, and the wildlife -- well, seeing this grizzly was a high point of the Denali highlight. We watched the grizzly as it ambled towards the Eielson Visitor Center and actually walk along one of the center's footpaths. Early September meant the tundra was in spectacular fall colors. I used the Canon 7D MK and 100-400 IS f/4.5-5.6 L lens, shooting in RAW. The camera exif is ISO 400, f/5.6 @ 1/350 sec with a focal length of 400mm
The "great outdoors" has always been an important part of my life, even though I was born, raised and have a mailing address in Los Angeles' busy port town of San Pedro. I've hiked the country lanes and paths of Great Britain, bike toured thorough Europe for 6 months, backpacked in the Sierra Nevada, and "truck camped" around the western US for weeks at a time, taking in the scenery and places of solitude.
