Artist's Description

California's eastern Sierra Nevada is famous for its autumn colors. Aspen, cottonwoods and willows turn brilliant yellow and orange during the last half of September thru the middle of October. This photo, taken October 13, 2014, is of at-peak, full aspen lining the sinuous road running between Silver and Gull Lakes on the June Lake Loop, north of the town of Mammoth Lakes. The camera used was the Canon 40D, and the lens the EF-S 17-55 f/2.8 IS. The camera exif is ISO 400, f/8 @ 1/125 sec.

The "great outdoors" has always been an important part of my life, even though I was born, raised and have a mailing address in Los Angeles' busy port town of San Pedro. I've hiked the country lanes and paths of Great Britain, bike toured thorough Europe for 6 months, backpacked in the Sierra Nevada, and "truck camped" around the western US for weeks at a time, taking in the scenery and places of solitude. I worked at a Kaiser hospital for 34 years, then retired in 2013 at age 56 and hit the road, living in my travel trailer; I’ve been on the road now since June 2013 and plan to keep on living with no fixed address for at least another 2 years.
