Kashwitna Lake is located about 7 miles north of the town of Willow, which is at the west end of the Hatcher Pass Road. It's probably the first scenic view you can get of Denali, approximately 100 miles away. I used the Canon 100-400 lens here, so the distance is somewhat foreshortened. Still, Denali looms over all, even at this distance. I used the Canon 7D MK II and 100-400 f/4.5-5.6 IS L lens, and the camera exif is ISO 100, f/13 @ 1/125 sec with a focal length of 200mm.
The "great outdoors" has always been an important part of my life, even though I was born, raised and have a mailing address in Los Angeles' busy port town of San Pedro. I've hiked the country lanes and paths of Great Britain, bike toured thorough Europe for 6 months, backpacked in the Sierra Nevada, and "truck camped" around the western US for weeks at a time, taking in the scenery and places of solitude. I worked at a Kaiser hospital for 34 years, then retired in 2013 at age 56 and hit the road, living in my travel trailer; I’ve been on the road now since June 2013 and plan to keep on living with no fixed address for at least another 2 years.
