There are, of course, many photographable views of Denali besides those in the national park; you just have to hope it's a clear day. This is one of the "up close and personal" views, taken at Denali Viewpoint South along the Parks Highway. It's a terrific look at Denali with a landscape lens, but I wanted an even closer look at the summit, so I used my 100-400 f/4.5-5.6 MK II lens. And I did luck out that it was taken on a clear day. Besides the 100-400 lens, I used the Canon 7D MK II and shot handheld in RAW, and the settings were ISO 100, f/11 @ 1/500 sec with a focal length of 379mm.
The "great outdoors" has always been an important part of my life, even though I was born, raised and have a mailing address in Los Angeles' busy port town of San Pedro. I've hiked the country lanes and paths of Great Britain, bike toured thorough Europe for 6 months, backpacked in the Sierra Nevada, and "truck camped" around the western US for weeks at a time, taking in the scenery and places of solitude.
