Autumn was in full swing as I was heading out of Alaska in late September 2016. I'd seen spectacular fall color displays in California's eastern Sierra Nevada, but never on such a grand scale. This was taken along the Glennallen Hwy where it runs along the Matanuska River. I camera I used was the Canon 7D MK II and the lens the Canon EF-S 17-55 f/2.8 USM IS. The camera exif is ISO 200, f/4.5 @ 1/750 sec with a focal length of 17mm. Shot in RAW and handheld.

The "great outdoors" has always been an important part of my life, even though I was born, raised and have a mailing address in Los Angeles' busy port town of San Pedro. I've hiked the country lanes and paths of Great Britain, bike toured thorough Europe for 6 months, backpacked in the Sierra Nevada, and "truck camped" around the western US for weeks at a time, taking in the scenery and places of solitude. I worked at a Kaiser hospital for 34 years, then retired in 2013 at age 56 and hit the road, living in my travel trailer; I’ve been on the road now since June 2013 and plan to keep on living with no fixed address for at least another 2 years.
