Description
The road up and over Hatcher Pass, in the southwest part of Alaska's Talkeetna Mountains, is widely considered to be one of the premier driving experiences in Alaska. The section of road west from the pass summit can be pretty rough with many potholes, but in late August 2016 I managed to drive the entire distance from Fishook to Willow. This photo was taken in the west section of the pass road, where Willow Creek runs along the road and colorful Alaska Fireweed dots the landscape. I used the Canon 7D MK I and EF-S 17-55 f/2.8 IS lens, shot in RAW and handheld, and the camera exif is ISO100, aperture-priority, f/22 @ 1/4 second with a focal length of 18mm.
