Taken on October 13, 2014, the area just north of Conway Summit, on Hwy 395 in California's eastern Sierra Nevada Mountains, is famous among landscape photographers and lovers of fall colors for blaze of aspen colors in the first half of October. Add to that the background of Dunderberg Peak on the right, and more Sierra peaks on the left, and throw in some wispy clouds, and you get a classic Sierra autumnal scene. The camera used was the Canon 40D DSLR handheld and the lens the EF-S 17-55 f/2.8 IS, with a circular polarizer. The camera exif is 28mm, ISO 100, f/5.6 @ 1/100 sec and +2/3 EV.
The "great outdoors" has always been an important part of my life, even though I was born, raised and have a mailing address in Los Angeles' busy port town of San Pedro. I've hiked the country lanes and paths of Great Britain, bike toured thorough Europe for 6 months, backpacked in the Sierra Nevada, and "truck camped" around the western US for weeks at a time, taking in the scenery and places of solitude.
